The Medicine Hat Mavericks will look to string together wins with the weekend ahead.

The Mavs head into the weekend off a 4-3, 11th inning loss Thursday at Weyburn to the Beavers. Medicine Hat led the East-division’s bottom team 3-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth before allowing a pinch-hit double and a wild pitch score to tie the game.

The loss comes after a 12-9 win Wednesday at Athletic Park over the East division-leading Regina Red Sox that head coach Kevin Mitchell said brought back some mojo to the club.

The Mavs are 5-5 in their last 10 games, holding onto second place in the East division with a 27-19 record. They sit 2.5 games up on the third place Saskatoon Berries (25-22) and 3.5 games on the fourth place Moose Jaw Miller Express (24-24).

Regina leads the division with a 31-16 record, 3.5 games up on the Mavs. The four East division playoff teams have been set, with the Swift Current 57’s and Beavers both eliminated from the playoffs.

The Mavs were back at Weyburn on Friday for a rematch with the Beavers. They head to Brooks on Saturday to face the Bombers in the Mavs’ final West division matchup of the regular season.

The Mavs host the Swift Current 57’s at Athletic Park on Sunday before an off-day Monday. After that, they have seven games left with the WCBL playoffs scheduled to get underway Aug. 7.
