Two local spray parks will be opening much earlier throughout July and a portion of August to allow residents an opportunity to beat the heat.

Saamis Rotary Park and Ross Glen Park will now open every day at 10 a.m. instead of 1 p.m., and operate until 7 p.m., matching the hours of spray parks located at Strathcona Island Park and Kiwanis Central Park.

In an online posting the city says successful water conservation efforts through measures of the Water Shortage Management Plan have allowed officials to extend spray park hours during the hot summer conditions.

The city says officials will review water conservation efforts at spray parks at the end of the month and will determine if other adjustments to the hours of operation are required for August.
