RCMP in Gleichen have laid a charge of attempted murder after a man was shot in the arm on Saturday on Siksika Nation.

Police issued a brief shelter in place order in an area of Gleichen as they arrested the suspect, Tim Munro, 43, of Siksika.

On Monday, the RCMP announced he was charged with single counts of attempted murder, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Munro is being held in custody with a next court appearance scheduled for June 20.

Arrest at prison

Two Taber men are charged after police say they threw bags of methamphetamine and cocaine over security fences at the Drumheller Correctional Centre.

Staff at the prison called RCMP at 6:30 p.m. June 10, and officers found a black Volkswagen Golf nearby.

In custody are Pancho Teichroeb, 25, and Nolan Berehula, 22, both residents of Taber. They’re each charged with trafficking cocaine and meth, as well as mischief at the penitentiary.

Following a bail hearing they were released under conditions of a $3,500 bond. They are next in court July 12.
