ROSELLA “ROLLY” LINKLATER

ROSELLA “ROLLY” LINKLATER 1970 – 2024 Rosella “Rolly” Linklater, born on November 16th, 1970, in The Pas, Manitoba, to Alice and Frederick William Linklater, transitioned from this life on June 7th 2024. A member of the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, she had to be relocated from South Indian Lake to access medical facilities due to her heart condition. She was then embraced by Jean Fox into a family of sisters named Shelly Robinson, Laurie (Gary) Brake, Karen (Jake) Thomas, and Cathy Willamson. Throughout her journey, Rolly encountered various challenges, including open heart surgery at the age of 12. Despite her battles, including addiction, she made tough decisions, such as giving Amy Schulz up for adoption. Later, she built a family of two daughters, Jenna (Ashton) Buhler and Shayla Smith, with her first love, Kenny Smith. Rolly endured many hardships but embraced life wholeheartedly. Known for her generosity, feistiness, and being the life of the party, she cared for everyone, selflessly helping others and spreading joy with her non-judgmental nature. Rolly loved her friends and family deeply. She was a proud grandma to Geneviene Smith and Elon Buhler, who both held a special place in her heart. Rolly connected to her culture with help from the Miywasin Friendship Centre, where she lived. She enjoyed drumming, baking, beading, and having a great time. Rolly had a big heart, and as she embarks on her next journey, she leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering strength. She now joins her loved ones who have passed before her, leaving behind her adored sisters, nieces, nephews, daughters, grandchildren, and countless friends whose lives she touched. In honoring Rolly’s memory, let us carry forward her spirit, remembering her famous words: “Stay Strong!” A celebration of life will be announced soon for Rolly.
