Softball roundup: U11 Thunder Black record winning weekend of softball

The Medicine Hat U11 Thunder Black finished their weekend of softball on a high note.

The Thunder Black had four games across two days, winning the final three. They opened the weekend with a 14-10 loss Saturday to the U11 Lethbridge Heat.

Elisabeth Switzer led the Thunder offence with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Campbell Kletzel had a hit, an RBI and a run scored as well.

Leighton Moon started the game, recording four strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched. Casey Ristau worked the rest of the game on the mound.

They followed the contest up with a 15-14 win over the Leduc Jets.

Switzer had two hits and two runs scored with an RBI, and M. Collier added three RBIs on a hit and a run scored.

Harlyn Schimpf started the game and had two strikeouts in an inning. Kyler Geddes-Martin worked the rest of the game with a punch-out.

The Thunder Black carried momentum into Sunday, with a 15-12 win over the U11 YYC.

Switzer notched two hits with three RBIs and a run scored, and Schimpf added two RBIs on a hit and a run scored.

Ella Munro started the game, recording a strikeout, and Moon finished the game with two strikeouts.

They capped the weekend with a 15-10 win over Drumheller.

The U13 Thunder White split their weekend of action.

They opened the weekend with a pair of losses on Saturday, falling 13-10 to the Lethbridge Heat and 17-16 to the YYC U13 team.

Alex J. had three RBIs on two hits and a run scored in the loss to Lethbridge. Addison R. added two RBIs on a hit and a run scored, and Sydney M. had two hits with two runs scored and an RBI.

Alexa J. started the game with two innings pitched and Addison R. finished it off with a strikeout in an inning of work.

Sydney M. led the way with three RBIs on two hits and two runs scored against Calgary. Alexa J. added two RBIs on two hits with a run scored.

The U13 Black had four games this weekend, losing all four.

They opened the weekend with a 9-5 loss Saturday to the Lethbridge Heat.

Breanna L. had two RBIs on a hit and a run scored in the loss.

Madelyn U. started the game and had three strikeouts in two innings. Hadley V. took over and had two punch-outs in an inning on the mound.

They lost 14-13 to Blackfalds later in the day.

Breanna L. had three hits with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Farren C. added two hits with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Hadley V. worked a strikeout to start the game and Addy D. pitched 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Farren C. finished the game on the mound.

They lost 17-11 to Calgary 3 on Sunday.
