LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – The jury at the trial of two men charged with conspiracy to commit murder at the 2022 border blockade at Coutts, Alta., is hearing evidence from female undercover officers who infiltrated the group.

Anthony Olienick and Chris Carbert were arrested after RCMP found a cache of guns, body armour and ammunition in trailers.

They are also charged with mischief and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The blockade paralyzed traffic at the busy Canada-United States border crossing for two weeks.

The courtroom was cleared of the public and media for the testimony to protect the officers’ identities

Justice David Labrenz says the officers will only be identified by numbers and letters.
