The local gymnastics club sent 37 athletes to the Canmore Summit Invitational hosted by Canmore Illusions Gymnastics Club. SALTA’s gymnasts brought home 21 medals and 12 ribbons. Chelsia Cooper received gold medals for her performances on the vault and floor routine. She was also awarded third place all-around champion for the CCP Level 8 category. Camryn Kingsley finished the season with a second-place finish on the uneven bars, a third-place finish in her floor routine and received the third-place all-around champion in her respective CCP Level 6 age category. Kenzie Christensen brought home a bronze medal on the uneven bars as well as receiving fourth place all-around champion in her respective CCP Level 6 age category. Both Willow Chant and Rocio Figueroa were awarded bronze medals for vault in their respective CCP Level 3 age categories. SALTA’s Xcel Silver athletes also received medals for their exceptional efforts at the competition in their respective age categories. Harper Lang placed 1st on balance beam, first in her floor routine, and earned the second-place all-around champion award. Deklyn Cook placed second on floor and secured the third place all-around champion award. Sienna Watson placed first on the uneven bars, first on balance beam, and was presented the second place all-around champion award. Leah Christensen placed second on vault and received the fifth place all-around champion award. Isla Studer finished third in vault and was named the seventh place all-around champion. Other all-around champions awards included Kylie Otterson sixth, Aliyah Mitchell sixth and Ashlyn Adams eighth. All-around champions in Xcel Bronze for their respective age categories included Maggie Teare finishing seventh, Vanessa Lonson and Emery Hirsch 10th, Tayla Heard and Brienna Petzoldt 11th and Symphony Silver and Raylee McShannock 12th. SALTA’s youngest competing athletes in CCP 1 and 2 received ribbons for their efforts. Annelise Marku and Wren Hollett-Behrman received gold ribbons. Everly Kerr, Blayke Ryckman, Zaydee Shortt, Lakelyn Schaub, Macy Lethbridge, Sophie Steinkey, Nova Vanin, Maya Barnes and Finley Stenberg were awarded silver ribbons and seven-year-old Abigail Bitz earned a bronze ribbon. “SALTA athletes had a blast in the mountains at the Canmore Summit Invitational,” Ashtyn George, competitive team co-ordinator said. “For some athletes, this was their first competition. We couldn’t have been prouder of each athlete for how they performed all season. What a great way to end the year.” 15
