Med Hat American Legion teams sweep weekend play

All three of the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs, Medicine Hat Knights and Saamis Rotary Majestics won every game put in front of them.

The Monarchs won both of their home contests against the Great Falls Chargers on Sunday, with an 11-4 and 12-8 win.

Jeff Bullock and Trevin Ressler led the offence in the first win, with both notching three RBIs, two runs scored and a hit.

Kayne Olisnki had two hits with two RBIs and Aidan Eckersall had two hits with two runs scored.

Bullock started the game on the mound, with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Cade Harrison took over for the save, with two punch-outs in 1.1 innings pitched.

The Monarchs had a balanced offence in the second win, with three hitters (Cade Moch, Harrison and Pryce Velichko) each recording two RBIs. Ressler started the game and pitched 1.2 innings before Parker Hunt took over and worked 1.1 frames with a strikeout.

Ryler Straarup finished the game with four innings pitched, recording four strikeouts.

Knights

The Knights also played at home Sunday, beating the Lewistown Redbirds 7-5 and 7-6.

In the first win, Kane Bishop and Ward Davies each recorded two hits with an RBI, Davies added two runs and Bishop scored once.

Nixon Kunkel started the game and had six strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched. Ayden Anderson earned the win on the mound, with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work. Jayden Mook finished the game on the mound, picking up the save with a strikeout in 1.1 innings.

Bishop led the offence in the second win, with two hits and two RBIs. Ethan Grad, Kunkel, Ethan Chenard and Anderson each had a hit with a run scored and an RBI.

James Cole started the game for the Knights, recording two strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Cole Carlson worked two outs and Mook took over for an inning on the mound. Liam Cunningham pitched the final two innings for the win, recording two punch-outs.

The Knights host the Vauxhall Spurs tonight at Jeffries Field, with games at 5 and 7:30 p.m.

Majestics

The Majestics hosted four games over the weekend, beating the Div. I Outlaws 8-6 and 15-14 on Saturday and topping the Oyen O’s 13-3 and Swift Current 57’s 11-1 on Sunday.

In the Majestics’ first win Saturday, Nixon Davis and Isaac Stenhouse each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Dylan Nelson started the game on the mound, recording seven strikeouts in five innings pitched. Aaron Recio took over and punched out two batters in 1.1 innings pitched and Jakob Boodhoo worked the final two outs of the game.

In the high-scoring win over the Outlaws, Hudson Gross and had a hit, run scored and two RBIs and Lyndon Dobson had two runs scored with a hit and an RBI.

Gross started the game on the mound, recording four strikeouts with 3.1 innings pitched. Dobson worked an out and Andrew Lefler recorded a punch-out in 1.1 innings of work. Owen Fisher and Nixon Davis worked the final inning, each striking out a batter.

Against Oyen on Sunday, Jace Berner had two hits with a run scored and an RBI and both Recio and Stenhouse had two RBIs with a hit, Stenhouse scored twice and Recio crossed the plate once.

Dustin MacPherson worked a complete five-inning game on the mound, with nine strikeouts.

They finished the weekend with a drubbing of the 57’s, led by Nelson’s three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Dobson had three hits with two runs scored and an RBI.

Kade Velichko started the game and had three strikeouts in two no-hit innings. Berner and Owen Fisher each pitched an inning and both recorded three strikeouts without allowing a hit.

Davis surrendered the lone hit, also striking out two batters in his inning of work. Stenhouse finished the game on the mound, recording two strikeouts.
