The Irvine Tigers dominated the Rotary Track in the 2024 version of the Medicine Hat Junior High Athletic Association Track and Field Meet. Irvine scored 324 aggregate points, while the second place schools, Alexandra and Seven Persons, had 219.5 points. St. Mary’s took the third spot, edging out division rival Notre Dame by 0.67 points, with 178 points. Sophia Drescher was the U13 girls aggregate champion with 21 points. She won the discus and shot put, took third in the long jump and fourth in high jump. Olivia Feeney of Medicine Hat Christian School was second with 19.33 points and Alexis Goffinet from Notre Dame finished third with 17.33 points. Eric Titsing of Alexandra was the U13 boys aggregate champion with 23 points. He took first place in the 400 and 800m, finished third in the 100m and fourth in the 200m. Irvine’s Macsen Vanderspruit took second with 21 points and Morad Fadlalla of Dr. Wilson School took third with 19 points. The girls U14 aggregate champion was Emma Agar-Weninger of Notre Dame. She took the title with 27 points, earning first place finishes in the 400m, 800m and triple jump competitions, also finishing second in the 200m race. Eden Schmunk of Irvine took second place with 21 points and Sydney Burgevitz took third with 19 points. Creed Anderson of Notre Dame was the U14 boys champion. He was first in the 100m, 200m and shot put. He also finished second in the discus. Abdalla Mohamed of Alexandra was second with 20 points and Ryder Plaksey of Seven Persons was third. The girls U16 was close with Kapri Coston of Irvine edging out teammate Darby Amundson and Leigha Pancoast of St. Mary’s. Coston earned points by finishing first in the 800m and 1,500m, while taking a second place finish in the 3,000m and throwing for fourth in the javelin. Odin Jordet of Irvine also edged out a Tigers teammate to win the U16 boys aggregate. He earned 21 points while teammate Elliot McDougal earned 20. Jaxton Studer of Crescent Heights was a half point behind at 19.5 points. Jordet swept all three events he was entered in, winning the 800m, 1,500m and 3,000m races.
