The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association got the 2024 season running last Saturday and Sunday.
Calgary’s Brian Nastiuk won the Jr. Thunder class in Saturday’s race, finishing ahead of Brandon Peck of Carseland. Grad Schaan of Dunmore took first in the Jr. Lightning class, with Hanna’s Jeff Orr finishing second. Paige Munsch of Cypress County finished Saturday’s junior races with a win in the Jr. Street class. Schaan finished in second.
Randy Hastings of Medicine Hat won the Sportsman class, with Dean Adie, also of Medicine Hat, finishing second.
Chance Edelmann from Medicine Hat took first place in the pro class, finishing ahead of Ken Tolsdorf of Blackfalds. Medicine Hat’s Mark Simmons won the Super Pro class, with Jason Kendel of Brooks coming in second.
Jay Dudley of Calgary finished the races Friday with a win in the Pro Bike class. Gavin Forbes of Medicine Hat came in second place.
The races kicked off Sunday with a local win, with Medicine Hat’s Paxton Frey winning the Jr. Thunder class. Nastiuk finished in second. The Jr. Lighting class was won by Schann with Orr coming in second place. Ryder Harrison of Raymond finished the junior races, winning the Jr. Street class. Schaan finished second.
Ted Buzunis of Fort Macleod won the Sportsman class, with Marlin Ulriksen winning the Sportsman class. Edelmann was the winner of the Pro class, finishing ahead of Saskatoon’s Ryan Doherty.
The Super Pro class was won by Bruce Valk of Medicine Hat, who finished ahead of Doherty.
Dudley took first place in the Pro Bike class, with Medicine Hat’s Gavin Forbes finishing second.
