The Medicine Hat Knights of Columbus Knights U18 baseball team took care of business over their weekend series.
The Knights swept their three-game exhibition slate at Jeffries Park against the U18 Outlaws from Okotoks.
They opened the weekend with a 10-0 win Saturday morning. Ward Davies have two RBIs, two hits and scored three times and Dylan Amundson added two RBIs on three hits with a run scored. Ethan Chenard also tallied three runs scored with two hits and an RBI.
Nixon Kunkel pitched the complete game, with seven strikeouts in five innings pitched.
They carried the momentum into Saturday afternoon, with an 18-2 win.
Both James Cole and Jayden Mook tallied three hits in the contest, with Cole driving in two RBIs and tallying two runs scored. Mook led the Knights with three RBIs and a run scored. All three of Kayne Bishop, Davies and Amundson had two hit and both Davies and Amundson scored three times each.
Cole Carlson started the game on the mound with four strikeouts. James Cole came in relief with two punch outs in two innings.
The Knights wrapped the weekend up with a 12-2 win Sunday morning.
A nine-run first inning led the way for the Knights. Carlson tallied three hits with two RBIs and a run scored and Chenard had three RBIs on two hits with two runs scored.
Mook started the game on the bump, recording six strikeouts in four innings pitched. Liam Cunningham had two strikeouts in an inning pitched.
Monarchs
The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs had three road games over the weekend against the Billings Royals.
The Monarchs lost the opening game Saturday, falling 7-5. Cade Harrison drove in two RBIs and had one hit. Jeff Bullock scored twice and had one hit.
Trevin Ressler started the game, recording three strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. Kayne Olisnki worked the remaining two outs of the game.
The Monarchs lost their second game Saturday, falling 15-3 to Billings after allowing nine runs in the opening frame.
Bullock tallied their lone RBI, recording a hit as well. Ryler Straarup had a run scored with a hit. The Monarchs sent five pitchers to the mound, with Harrison, JJ Harnett, Asha Frey, Olinski and Parker Hunt combining for two strikeouts.
They finished the weekend with an 11-1 loss Sunday to the Royals. Landon MacPherson had two hits and an RBI in the game.
Jeff Bullock worked 1.1 innings to start the game with a strikeout and Straarup pitched three innings with three strikeouts. Cade Moch and Hunt worked the remainder of the game.
Majestics
The Saamis Rotary Majestics hosted a tournament this weekend at Notre Dame School.
The Majestics played four games and opened their weekend in big fashion.
They won their first game, beating the U15AA Bisons 27-0 Friday. No statistics were recorded.
They followed that win up with a 16-5 victory over the Cranbrook Bandits on Saturday. Kade Velichko led the way with three RBIs on three hits and two runs scored. Dustin Macpherson had two RBIs with two hits and two runs scored and Nixon Davis had two runs scored with two hits and an RBI.
Isaac Stenhouse pitched all five innings for the Majestics, with six strikeouts.
They carried the momentum through the day, with a 22-4 win over the Saskatoon Blue Jay Titans.
Dylan Harnett had three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs and Aaron Recio tallied three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Velichko helped his own cause, with three RBIs on two hits and a run scored.
He also started the game, with five punch outs in four innings pitched. Lyndon Dobson had three strikeouts in an inning pitched.
The Majestics ended the weekend with an 8-6 loss Sunday to the U15AA Airdrie Stars.
Recio, Dobson and MacPherson each had a hit with an RBI and a run scored. Recio started the game on the mound, with seven strikeouts in five innings pitched. Ethan Bowey and Dylan Nelson both came in relief, each recoding a strikeout in their respective inning of work.
