Three health-care providers are among six local women chosen as nominees for the 2024 Inspire Award that recognizes women who have overcome obstacles, inspired others and have made an impact in the business community.

This year’s nominees were chosen by an independent community review committee and include:

Whitney Renney – “Boss Bird” Owner/Operator of 3 Little Birds Tree Care Inc.

Annie Anderson – Integrative Energy Therapist, Owner/Operator of The Energy Medicine Clinic

Carla Stern – Owner/ Registered Psychologist of Carla Stern Psychological Services Inc.

Manali Shanbhag – Registered Physiotherapist, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, Founder of Thrive Physiotherapy and Wellness

Kirsten Spek – Entrepreneur/Owner/Operator

Carrah Pinder-Walter – Community Volunteer and an Employee of Redcliff Family Dental

This year’s Inspire Award winner will be chosen at the 12th annual Inspire Luncheon on June 7 at the Medicine Hat Lodge, featuring a panel of local businesswomen who will share inspiration stories about their professional careers.

“The things we look for in a nominee is that they have significant achievements,” Joleine Hartman, Women in Business vice chair, told the News during the nomination period. “They’re a mentor or a role model. They’re a trendsetter and a risk taker. They contribute to the business community, they may have some philanthropic contributions.”

Last year’s Inspire Award recipient, Jennifer Kerslake, is the director of community engagement for Medicine Hat College and was instrumental in the creation of the Beej Project, a mental health initiative that supports communities following tragic events.

Organizers say the Inspire Luncheon will provide an opportunity for business-minded women to connect and network as well as celebrate the several achievements other women have accomplished in the business community.

Tickets for the 2024 Inspire Luncheon are on sale. An online link can be found on the Women in Business – Medicine Hat & Region Facebook page.
