Two Medicine Hat Thunder softball teams had gold medals to give their moms over the weekend.
The Thunder’s U11 and U17 Red teams took first place at the Nose Creek’s Mother’s Day softball tournament.
The U11 Red went undefeated in all five games en route to gold. They opened the weekend with a 12-6 win over the Jets. Finley K (last names were not provided) had a hit with a run scored and an RBI in the win. Alexis M tallied two runs scored and had a hit.
They carried the momentum into Saturday with a 9-4 win over Southfour. Finley K had two hits with an RBI and a run scored in that win.
The U11 Thunder Red added another win Saturday, beating the Nose Creek U11-1 Ledene 14-6. Harper N had two hits with a run scored and both Elle O and Finley K had two runs scored and two hits each. Elle O also had an RBI.
They opened play Sunday with a 14-2 win over the Westhills Blackout. Scarlett M had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored in the victory. Finley K recorded three RBIs with a hit and a run scored, and both Julie G and Elle O had two hits with two runs scored and an RBI.
Gold was won with a 10-5 win in a rematch with the Jets. Alexis M had two runs scored and Julie G tallied two hits with a run scored.
The U17 Thunder Red opened their golden weekend in Nose Creek with a 9-1 win Friday over the River City Hornets U17B.
Gracie Eddy scored three times with three hits and two RBIs. Adriene Campbell tallied two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
Campbell also started the game on the mound, with eight strikeouts in three innings pitched. Ryleigh Jackiw recorded six strikeouts in two innings pitched. Neither allowed a hit.
The Thunder carried the momentum into Saturday, with an 11-5 win over the Nose Creek U17.
Both Gracie Ulmer and Eddy had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Campbell tallied two hits, two runs scored an RBI.
She again started the game, recording seven strikeouts in three innings pitched. Maia Peterson worked two relief innings with three punch-outs.
They picked up their third win of the weekend, beating the U17 Selects 10-1.

They continued the winning ways Sunday, with a 12-3 win over the U17B River City Hornets.

Campbell tallied nine strikeouts in three innings pitched to start the game, with Jackiw coming in relief and recording two strikeouts.
They took gold with an 11-0 win in a rematch with the Selects.
Mackenzie Tindall had three hits with three runs scored and an RBI in the win and Eddy added two RBIs on two hits with a run scored.
Campbell started her fourth game of the weekend, recording eight strikeouts in three innings pitched. Peterson finished the contest with two punch outs in an inning of work.
U11
The U11 Thunder Black played four games over the weekend in Medicine Hat’s first Southern Alberta Softball Series of the summer season. A total of 32 teams played at local diamonds.
The Thunder Black opened their series with a 6-5 loss to the Brooks Bombers on Saturday morning. No stats were recorded.
They bounced back with an 8-4 win over Drumheller. No stats were recorded.
The Thunder Black carried the momentum into Sunday’s action, with an 11-10 win over Calgary.
Ella Munro had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs and Harlyn Schimpf tallied two runs scored on two hits and an RBI.
Leighton Moon recorded two strikeouts in an inning of work on the mound. Emily Gergely had a strikeout in one of the two outs she recorded and Elisabeth Switzer struck out three batters in her inning of work.
The Thunder finished the weekend with a 5-2 loss to the Brooks Bombers.
Casey Ristau hit a home run in the loss and Gergely had an RBI with a hit. Marlee Collier recorded three strikeouts in an inning pitched. Scarlet Leahy had a strikeout in an inning of work and Munro finished the game with two punch-outs in an inning of work.
U13
The U13 Thunder White also competed in the SASS tournament over the weekend.
They opened the weekend-slate with a 16-14 loss Saturday to the Duchess Jays.
Aria H and Alexa J (no last names provided) recorded three runs scored, with Aria H notching an RBI. Sydney M worked three innings with seven strikeouts and Emery T finished the game with a strikeout and two outs.
They dropped their second game, falling 18-17 to the Calgary Team 2. Addison R had a hit with two RBIs and two runs scored. Seven Thunder scored twice and Rielle F recorded three RBIs.
Ella H started the game and pitched an inning before Addison R took over and recorded four strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched.
They bounced back with a 14-13 win Sunday over the Calgary Team 1. Addison R and Sydney M each recorded two hits with an RBI, Addison R added two runs scored. Alexa J started the game on the mound, with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched. Aria H finished the game with a punch out and recording two outs.
The U13 Thunder White finished the weekend with a 14-9 win over the Lethrbdige Heat Team 2. Emery T had two runs scored, two RBIs and two hits and Alexa J had almost the same stat line, with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored.
Sydney M started the game on the mound and recorded five strikeouts in three innings pitched. Addison R finished the game.
The U13 Thunder Black had four games in the locally-held SASS tournament.
They opened the weekend with a 15-14 loss to the Lethbridge Heat on Saturday. Farrer C (no last names provided) had three RBIs with a hit and two runs scored. Breanna L had two runs scored with an RBI and a hit. Olivia F and Addy D recorded a strikeout with a combined four outs.
They lost their second game Saturday, falling 12-5 to the Calgary 3 team. Hally W had a hit with two RBIs. Addy D recorded a punch out in an inning pitched and Farren C struck out five batters in three innings of work.
The Thunder Black opened play Sunday with a 19-10 loss to the Innisfail Hawks. Nellie C had two hits and both Breanna L and Farren C had an RBI with a hit and a run scored. Farren C scored twice. Maddelyn U and Hadley V pitched in the game.
They finished the weekend with a 15-14 loss to Strathmore. Madelyn U and Hally W each had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored in the loss. Nellie C started the game with an inning of work and Onyka F recorded three strikeouts in an inning pitched.
U15
The Thunder U15 Red had two recorded games over the weekend.
They dropped their first game, falling 14-5 to the Blackfalds pirates on Friday.
Haidyn Pidlisny and Sophia Stock each walked twice and recorded a run scored. Avery Regeher started the game on the mound, picking up a strikeout in two innings pitched. Sonya Reid worked 1.2 innings on the bump.
They were in action Saturday, with a 10-1 loss to the West Hill Velocity. Four Thunder recorded hits, with Pidlisny, Sophie James, Emily Williams and Reid recording knocks. Kendall Smith stepped into the circle first and recorded seven punch-outs in three innings of work. Emily Kleemola worked the final inning on the mound.
