Cypress postpones decision to leave Intermunicipal Committee

Following closed discussion Tuesday, Cypress County council has decided to postpone sending a letter of intent to withdraw from the Intermunicipal Committee.

Reeve Dan Hamilton noted that after the motion at the previous meeting, council received a lot of contact from counterparts in other municipalities.

“I think everybody understands that we’re trying to get something done,” said Hamilton. “It was great context that was put forward, and the council on the city side wants to try to work this out and see where we’ll go with the IDP, so it was a good positive to bring that forward.”

In light of this response, it was moved that council postpone a decision to withdraw until the Sept. 4 meeting in order to pursue opportunities brought forward.
