A standing request by Mayor Linnsie Clark for human resource reports and expense information is set to be debated for the third time in a month when council meets tonight (6:30 p.m. at city hall, or broadcast live on Rogers Community Cable).

Council will also debate a bylaw to institute its incoming development subsidy program as well as proposed changes to the city’s Unsightly Property bylaw, which would require owners to paint window and door coverings rather than leaving bare plywood among other changes.

Local weather

Rain will settle in early this week, but the high next Saturday is expected to to reach 28C. Environment Canada says Hatters can expect rain and temperatures in the low teens from Monday through Wednesday.

The U.S. National Weather Service is warning that northern Montana can expect winds gusting to nearly 100 kilometres in western and northern portions of the states, but winds in southern Alberta should be more moderate.

In the legislature

The debate over the government’s planned changes for cities and towns will resume as the legislature reconvenes following a week spent by MLAs in their constituencies.

Lethbridge Mayor Blaine Hyggen says a working group of mid-sized city mayors made progress in discussions on tackling housing, urban crime and other social issues last week.

Medicine Hat Mayor Linnsie Clark attended the sessions virtually by video link while in Medicine Hat to also attend the Premier’s Luncheon event.
