The Alberta Party has announced that Lindsay Amantea will be interim leader ahead of the party’s annual general meeting in June.

She takes over after former mayor of Brooks and party leader Barry Morishita stepped down following the May 2023 general election.

Amantea is a corporate lawyer based in Calgary.

“Like many Albertans I’ve been watching the childish fighting between parties on the left and right, which seems to be getting worse,” said Amantea in a message accompanying a release from the party.

“We’re one wrong move of vote away from the entire system toppling.”

Earlier this month, the party announced its annual general meeting will be held June 1 and 2 in Calgary.
