Strong Towns Medicine Hat is hosting a gathering for local residents who want to improve their community and make the city a more vibrant place to live.
The group will be handing out free hot chocolate and marshmallows to roast at Kin Coulee Park this afternoon from 2-4 p.m.
Strong Towns Medicine Hat is a nonprofit represented by local residents from different backgrounds who want to make small changes that don’t cost a lot of money but can have a positive impact on the community.
Examples include hosting a block party for your neighbourhood, cleaning up weeds at Riverside Memorial Park or painting large concert blocks with colourful images in front of a local daycare.
“We want to inspire other residents to make improvements in their neighbourhoods,” said organizer Kelly Allard.
Some topics that will be discussed at the gathering include changes that could be made in the city, downtown, public transportation and how to access micro grants.
The event is free to attend and will take place at the Kin Coulee toboggan hill shelter. Organizers suggest anyone planning on attending to bring their own lawn chairs.
