OTTAWA – Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Canada condemns an airstrike launched by the Israeli military that killed seven aid workers in the Gaza Strip.
Joly’s statement this morning comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledges the Israel Defence Forces carried out the “unintended strike,” which killed “innocent people.”
The World Central Kitchen says its workers were killed as they were delivering food.
A dual Canadian-American citizen is among the dead.
Joly says Canada expects full accountability for the “killings” and attacks on humanitarian personnel are “absolutely unacceptable.”
She says a full investigation is required and Canada will convey that to the Israeli government directly.
