sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat High Hawks senior boys basketball team finished in the top-10 at provincials this weekend. The Hawks Sr. boys team finished sixth at the 4A provincial tournament held in Red Deer, falling 76-74 to O’Leary school in the fifth-place game Saturday afternoon. The Hawks, who entered provincials as the first seed, won their first game 94-66 over Grand Prairie Composite on Thursday. They then lost 95-90 to Western Canada later in the day. The Hawks beat Holy Trinity Academy 78-70 on Friday to put them in the fifth-place game against O’Leary. Hat High’s Sr. girls basketball team also competed at the 4A provincial tournament. They entered as the 13th seed and lost their first game 76-54 to the fourth seed Foothills Composite on Thursday. The Hawks Sr. girls lost their second game, falling 65-44 to Leduc on Friday. The News contacted both coaches for comment on provincials but received no immediate response. 9
