The Medicine Hat College Rattlers indoor track team was led by Maddy Scrimger at the ACAC indoor championships this weekend.
The local second-year runner was on the podium four times during the meet held in Edmonton. She ran to a silver medal in both the 1,500m and 3,000m events, recorded a bronze medal in the 1,000m and teamed up with Brooklyn Kaczynski, Annika Marshall and Kabri Stickel for another bronze medal in the 4 x 200m relay.
Scrimger was named to the ACAC’s 2024 indoor track all conference team.
The Rattlers had other top-eight performances over the weekend. Justin Jager finished seventh in the 60m (tied) and 300m race. Colton Robinson also tied for seventh in the 60m race.
Marshall finished seventh in the 60m, Shintaro Iwata was seventh in the 600m, Mizuki Iwata was eighth in the 1,500m and the 3,000m. The Rattlers men’s 4 x 200m team finished fourth and their men’s 4 x 400m team finished fourth. MHC’s women’s 4 x 400m team finished fifth.
As a school, the Rattlers indoor track team finished a program-best fourth place in team competition. The Rattlers women tied their fourth place finish from 2023 and the men’s team moved up one spot from their 2023 final, finishing in fifth place this year.
