sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat High Hawks wrestling team competed at provincials this weekend in Edmonton. The school’s wrestling team featured 10 Medicine Hat athletes representing three different schools. Kiana Ivey fought for gold but had to settle for a silver as did William Kozakewich who gave up size and strength to his Edmonton opponent, finishing second. Mazen Al-Yassine upset the number one ranked athlete but through a tip and a turn ended up with fourth. Bahati Butoyi finished in sixth place. Those wrestlers earned team points for Hat High. Kozakewich, a former national champion, is heading off to Team Canada trials next week in Ottawa. A few others from the Hawks wrestling team will participate in the Alberta Open to qualify for Nationals that occur in April in Mississauga. 10
