Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with several local employees as Medicine Hat College gears up to host to its 13th annual community job fair.

Employers will be offering part-time, summer and internship positions as well as providing information on their organizations and job roles they offer.

The college says the purpose of the event is to showcase available opportunities for job seekers and students with a variety of backgrounds.

The job fair is open to the public and aimed at anyone who is unemployed, underemployed and re-entering the work force, as well as students and graduates.

Job recruiters will also be hiring for summer positions during the job fair.

Job seekers are encouraged to dress appropriately and come prepared to make a good first impression.

“It’s important to remember the person on the other side of the table could be the one doing your future interviews, or may even do interviews on the spot,” says Shelly Drefs, career services assistant at the college.

The city has also aligned its job fair to coincide with the college and will be conducting on-the-spot interviews for some of the upcoming parks labourers positions this summer.

Last year the job fair attracted more than 40 local companies and businesses.

The college says there will be prizes and giveaway throughout the day.

The job fair runs Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Centennial Hall and B Wing Hallway.
