MedHat adaptive sport hosting sledge hockey classic

Sledge hockey will be on full display this weekend at the Big Marble Go Centre.

Medicine Hat Adaptive Sport and Recreation is hosting its annual Larry Godin Sledge Hockey Classic.

The three-day tournament gets underway tonight and runs through Sunday, featuring sledge hockey teams from Medicine Hat and Calgary.

Medicine Hat has two junior Hounds teams entered, ranging in age from six to 20. On the adult side of the tournament there will be three intermediate teams from Medicine Hat. Calgary will have one junior team and one intermediate team competing. Each team will be playing four games throughout the weekend.

Games start tonight at 5 p.m. with the Medicine Hat Jr. Hounds 1 taking on the Hounds 2.

Saturday and Sunday’s action starts at 8:30 a.m.

The MHASR is also hosting a raffle with more than $7,000 in prizes, looking to raise funds to furthur support adaptive sport and recreation in Medicine Hat.

The tournament schedule can be found at mhasr.com, and there is no fee for the public to come watch.
