A former B.C. man who stole a snow plow from a car dealership in Brooks was sentenced to nearly three months in jail Wednesday and then promptly released.

Kyle Duncan Reid, 30, has been in custody since the fall after he was arrested for threatening an employee of a Lethbridge business in November.

He pleaded guilty in Lethbridge court of justice to charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. Time already in custody completed the sentence.

Court hear that Reid stole a plow truck, worth about $16,000, from a car dealership in Brooks on Nov. 23. (The vehicle wasn’t for sale but a maintenance vehicle.)

Prosecutors say one day earlier he threw items at a box store employee in Lethbridge and said he had a firearm.

Defence counsel agreed with the proposed sentence stating Reid has had difficulty holding a job and is homeless.
