ANNE LYSIAK-GAETZ

ANNE LYSIAK-GAETZ October 2, 1929 – December 23, 2023, 94 years old.
It is with pure sadness and heartbreak we lost a strong, energetic, smart and determined Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother who had many aspirations and careers through her life.
Anne was born in East Coulee to parents Roy and Polly Boychuk near Drumheller, Alberta. Her family made other moves such as High Prairie, Alberta, and eventually Medicine Hat, where she settled and called home. She enjoyed a long full life until her passing.
She married Joe Lysiak in High Prairie where they had three children, farmed and owned a gas station in town. Joe had passed away and years later she went on to marry Martin Gaetz in Medicine Hat. Anne’s passions early in life were watching her sons Chester and Tom play hockey which kept the family busy travelling to watch the games. Her other passions in life included curling, dancing, painting, writing memoirs, gardening and cooking. She was also a member of the Royal Purple. She took so much pride and made it her goal to teach her children and grandchildren instrumental music (organ, piano, accordion, and guitar). She would take her grandchildren all over Medicine Hat to play at senior homes and talent shows. Anne had a humorous side and would show a distinct smirk when she thought she had an upper hand. In her younger years she had many pink houses and liked her cupboards pink and white, she will definitely be remembered by long time friends and family for the pink.
Anne was predeceased by her husbands Joe Lysiak and Martin Gaetz; two Sons Chester Lysiak and Tom Lysiak; Son-in-law John Storowotsky; Grandson Ryan Welling (Val’s son); Brother Tony (Phylis) Birch and Special Friend Mel Mutschler.
Anne leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Janice Storowotsky and daughters-in-law Val Welling Melinda Lysiak; five grandchildren, Aaron (Cheryl) Storowotsky (Noah, Grace, Isabelle and Bennett); Chelsey Storowotsky (Randy) (J.R., Jaxon and Jase); Jessie Lysiak Braun (Justin) (Madison and Summer); Chrisopher (Jessica) Lysiak (Kipten, Oceanna, Laken, Elijah Lysiak and Maddison Jordon); and Corey Welling (Corrie). She will forever be in our hearts and eternally missed. Anne will be remembered for her strong will and determination in life.
Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, January 4th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the main gate to the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Anne may be made to the SPCA or HALO. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
