Truck crashes into hotel after drivers suffers health incident

Medicine Hat emergency services responded to a truck crashing into the side of a hotel Friday morning.

Medicine Hat Police Service says at approximately 8:08 a.m., a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was witnessed to have left the Eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway, cross the median, breaking through a chain link fence before entering the intersection of Sixth Street SW before colliding with the Green Room Restaurant of the Park Lane Motel.

MHPS, Medicine Hat Fire Department and EMS attended and extracted a lone male from the vehicle who was transported to Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for further assessment.

Police say it was determined the driver had suffered a medical emergency during the incident and is expected to recover. As a result of the collision, he also suffered minor injuries.

Total property damage is estimated in excess of $60,000 dollars.
