QMJHL roundup: Voltigeurs’ lethal offence zaps Sagueneens 7-3

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. – Ethan Gauthier scored twice and Sam Oliver had a goal and two assists as the Drummondville Voltigeurs zapped the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueneens 7-3 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Saturday.

Justin Cote, Luke Woodworth, Maxime Lafond and Loic Goyette also scored for the Central Division-leading Voltigeurs (21-9-3-1), who outshot the visitors 39-21.

Nathan Lecompte, Jeremy Leroux and Emile Guite scored for the Sagueneens (16-15-2-2).

The Volts went 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Sagueneens were 0-for-4.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – Justin Poirier scored at 3:47 of overtime to cap off an impressive comeback as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar edged the visiting Quebec Remparts 4-3.

The Drakkar led 3-1 with less than 90 seconds left in the third period, but goals by Poirier (18:39) and Justin Gill (19:02) tied the game and forced the OT.

Jules Boilard also scored for the East Division-leading Drakkar (29-3-2-0), who outshot the visitors 36-21.

Dylan Andrews and Ty Peddigrew also scored for the Titan (14-17-1-2), who outshot the visitors 41-35.

HALIFAX, N.S. – Peter Reynolds’ second goal of the game, scored at 3:54 of overtime, gave the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs a 3-2 victory over the Halifax Mooseheads.

Noah Reinhart also scored for the Sea Dogs (13-15-3-2).

Reece Peitzsche and Brody Fournier scored for the Maritimes Division-leading Mooseheads (22-9-4-0).

MONCTON, N.B. – Cole Burbidge scored the lone goal of a three-round shootout as the visiting Cape Breton Eagles defeated the Moncton Wildcats 4-3.

Cam Squires, Luke Patterson and Cam MacDonald all scored in regulation for the Eagles (17-16-1-0).

Alex Mercier, Thomas Auger and Gabe Smith scored for the Wildcats (21-7-2-2).

HUSKIES 4 ARMADA 3 (OT)

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – Jeremy Langlois scored 1:21 into overtime as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defeated the pesky Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 4-3.

Daniil Bourash, Benjamin Brunelle and Thomas Verdon also scored for the West Division-leading Huskies (21-8-1-3).

Eliot Litalien, Vincent Desjardins and Justin Carbonneau scored for the Armada (15-15-3-0). Carbonneau scored a short-handed goal at 19:47 of the third period to tie the game at 3-3 and force the overtime.
