SHEILA KAREN SCHNEIDER
SHEILA KAREN SCHNEIDER January 25th, 1957 December 6th, 2023
Sheila Karen Schneider (nee Weiss) passed away on December 6th, 2023, at the age of 66 years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years, Barry Schneider and four children, Adam Schneider (Heather), Linden Schneider (Twyla), Isaac Schneider and Faith Vidal (Greg). She is also survived by four grandchildren who she loved dearly, Carrigen Schneider, Ronan Schneider, Lilly Schneider and Sophia Schneider. Sheila’s siblings Colin Weiss (Barb), Dale Weiss (Chandra), Susan Renner (Chuck) and Allan Weiss as well as many nieces and nephews are left to mourn the loss of their sister and aunt. She was pre-deceased by her father Don Weiss and mother Muriel Weiss both of Medicine Hat.
Sheila was born and raised in Medicine Hat but spent long periods of her adult life with her husband in Lethbridge and Calgary before returning to Medicine Hat in 2020. She and Barry married young and often joked that they raised each other.
Sheila’s life could be summed up by her faith in God, her love and care for family and her love for fashion. She and her husband have faithfully served God since the early 1980’s. No matter where they lived, their faith in God was front and center in their lives. Sheila had a desire to have family from a young girl and was blessed with four children. She was content to be a homemaker and pursed that as her career and role in life. Also from a young age, Sheila had an eye for nice clothes and fashion. She knew what clothes she wanted, often working on her parents to buy the ones that caught her eye. Since her early 20’s she began sewing her own clothes, as well as many for her family. She became a prolific and talented seamstress and continued this right up until her death.
Sheila had a fun personality and her family and friends thought of her as “feisty”. She could make any story that she told fun and interesting which endeared her to all. Sheila was also one who loved to learn and would explore a wide range of interests on YouTube and elsewhere. In her learning, once she discovered what she believed to be true she never wavered and was a model of living by your values no matter how uncomfortable it was to do that.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate doctors in the Medicine Hat hospital, Dr. Sissons and Dr. Dirker and the staff at St. Joseph’s hospice for their care in the last days of her life.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Heights Baptist Church located at 1250 Division Ave S, Medicine Hat at 1:30pm with lunch to follow. A private family interment will take place prior to the service. Condolences may be made at
