The U18 swept their three-game showcase at the RINK training centre in Oak Bluff, Man. They opened the weekend with a 4-2 win over the Notre Dame Hounds on Friday. Carter Cunningham had a goal and an assist, and all three of Josh Evaschesen, Cash Olson and Brayden Ryan-Mackay had a goal each. Marek Schlenker made 21 saves. The offence truly flexed its muscle Saturday, beating the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy 12-1. Cunningham potted three goals, Hudson Gainer added two goals and two assists, and Evaschesen led with two goals and an assist. Nate Yellowaga had a goal and three helpers, Caleb Leischner and Ryan-Mackay each had a goal and two assists, and Will Bell and Noah Derouin had a goal and an assist each. Trip Jensen had five assists. Schlenker made 23 saves. They rounded the weekend out with a 5-2 win Sunday over the RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. Kolby Gapter led the way with two goals, Josiah Jackson added a goal and an assist and both Owen Brees and Cohen Carter scored a solo marker. Schlenker made 28 saves in his third start of the weekend. The SAHA U18 men’s team (7-6) are in action again Dec. 7-10 on the road. U18 women’s SAHA’s U18 women’s team had a positive weekend, winning two of their three games at home. They opened the weekend with a loss, falling 3-2 against RINK Winnipeg. Sophie Erlam and Keyana Bert scored for SAHA and Maddy Ferguson made 19 saves. They bounced back with a 6-5 overtime win Saturday over St. Mary’s Academy. Bert had the overtime winner, part of her two-goal, three assist day. Kmryn Reiber had two goals and an assist and Keira Grant added a goal with two assists. Riley Grimlich added a goal and an assist as well. Ferguson made 27 saves in the win. SAHA rounded out the weekend with a 3-1 win over Pilot Mound. Jaylee Skog, Kenzie Carson and Bert all had a goal and an assist, and Tayler Cohen made 15 saves. The U18 women’s team (7-7) are in action again Dec. 15-17. U17 men’s SAHA’s U17 team had a difficult road weekend, dropping their three games against the Northern Alberta Xtreme Blue. They were shut out 4-0 Friday against NAX Blue. Mattias Radke made 41 saves for SAHA. On Saturday, SAHA lost 6-3 with Jack Elliott, Brendan Hurley and Grady McLeod each scoring for the Dunmore-based academy. Steven Wawryk made 43 saves in the loss. They also lost 6-3 Sunday in their final game of the weekend against NAX. Ty Wasyluk, Slate McFadzen and Ty Hynes each scored and Wawryk and Radke split duties in net with a combined 44 saves. SAHA’s U17 men’s team (ranked 17th) hosts the Calgary Int.
