WCBL releases 2024 schedule

The Western Canadian Baseball League has unveiled its schedule for the 2024 summer season.

The 2024 season begins May 24 with the league’s 12 teams facing off across 336 games, each team hosting 28 contests on their 56-game schedules.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks’ campaign opens up on the road, as they head to Moose Jaw to face the Miller Express on May 25 and 26 for a rematch of the East division finals.

Their first home games at Athletic Park are May 29 and 30 when they host the WCBL’s newest franchise, the Saskatoon Berries. The Berries will be in the East division, with the Mavs, Miller Express, Regina Red Sox, Weyburn Beavers and Swift Current 57’s.

The 2024 season also features the return of the Edmonton Prospects who took the 2023 season off due to stadium construction. Edmonton will be at Athletic Park on June 30.

The entire league will play on Fathers Day, June 16, with Medicine Hat hosting the Miller Express that day.

A 2023 championship rematch between the Mavs and Okotoks Dawgs occurs at Seaman Stadium on June 28-29 when the Mavs visit for a two-game series.

Medicine Hat will host the Beavers on Canada Day, another day all 12 teams are in action.

The WCBL All-Star Game is scheduled for July 20 at Seeman Stadium in Okotoks.

The Heritage Day long weekend marks the end of the season, with Medicine Hat finishing their season Aug. 5 at Swift Current.

The WCBL postseason gets underway with best-of-three conference semi-finals set for Aug. 7-9, the conference finals scheduled for Aug. 11-13 and the WCBL finals scheduled for Aug. 15-17.
