Montreal Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia says hiring head coach Jason Maas was his best move of the 2023 CFL season.
The Alouettes won 11 games for the first time since 2012 this season despite losing several key players in free agency amid an uncertain ownership situation.
CFL.ca had the Alouettes ranked last in their power ranks to start the season.
Now they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Division semifinal at Molson Stadium on Saturday.
Maciocia believes Maas is a strong candidate for the CFL coach of the year award for taking a team that underwent full-scale changes this winter to where it is today.
He adds that Maas’s success is satisfying because the move was not lauded at the time of the hiring last December.
