Local businesses are again getting into the Christmas spirit with a locally produced array of products for an advent calendar.

Broken Llama Pinatas produces the custom creation that feature 25 small gifts to be discovered on the 25 days leading up to Dec. 25.

They are now taking pre-orders and finalizing the array of items included before production of the customized displays begin Nov. 1.

“It’s a Holiday decoration that you can hang up, and each day there’s a little gift there for you,” said Dione Walker, who is arranging the promotion. “It’s great to shop local, but that can be difficult.”

Several dozen were sold in late 2022 during the inaugural run. The hope this year is to improve sales as well as add a 12-day calendar as an option and one specifically geared to children.

The calendar retails for $275 and contains at least $350 worth of gift cards or small gifts, like chocolates, beauty products, coffee beans, candles, toques and honey, plus a variety of other offerings

More than 25 businesses – including micro breweries, cafes and ice cream shops, bookstores and wellness product retailers – are taking part, meaning each calendar will have a unique variety of gifts.

“The theme is really ‘relaxation and joy’,” Walker explained.
