HANNAH HOFFART

HANNAH HOFFART July 31, 1953 ~ October 4, 2023 It is with deep sadness that the family of Hannah Hoffart, beloved wife of William ‘Bill’ Hoffart, announces her passing at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the age of 70 years after bravely battling a sudden and aggressive cancer. Along with Bill, left to cherish Hannah’s memory is her son, Curtis and daughter, Amanda who she considered her world, as well as her siblings, David Stickel, Pauline Ekman, Martin Stickel and Adolph Stickel; sisters-in-law, Cathy (Gerald) Schneider and Pamela Hoffart. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Emilie Stickel; sister in infancy, Martha; brothers-in-law, Clifford Ekman and Anthony Hoffart as well as her mother and father-in-law, Katherine and Anton Hoffart. Hannah was born in Medicine Hat but grew up on a farm at Seven Persons. She had a love for numbers and math, leading her to work as a bookkeeper for Alpha Dairy. On October 23, 1976, she married Bill and started a family becoming a stay-at-home Mom who cared deeply for her children. Hannah enjoyed gardening and flowers; spending hours every day looking after the yard during spring, summer, and fall months, as well as always doing all the housework, cooking, and cleaning. To her a garden was never a garden if there wasn’t dill growing in amongst the vegetables and flowers. During the winter months she would shovel the snow, and loved reading, sewing, cross stitching, crafting, baking and stamp collecting. She was quiet but full of love, kindness and understanding, always looking after her family. Hannah loved spending time with her children and hearing how their day went, giving her opinion and advice, and then always letting them know how her day went. She was the best wife and mother in the world who would look after everything for her husband. A Celebration of Hannah’s Life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend David Pollard officiating. RUTH HEIDINGER 1943 ~2023
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Ruth Charity Heidinger on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the age of 79 years. Ruth is survived by her loving husband Rodger of 60 years. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Clyde Heidinger and Nevin (Lisa) Heidinger; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Heidinger; six grandchildren, Graham (Amanda), Grant (Kaitlyn), Erin (Cameron), Cole (Kallyn), Thane (Sydni), and Ethan; five great grandchildren, Holden, Conner, Rebecca, Sloane, and Allison; one sister, Grace (Wayne) Buss; and three sister-in-laws, Lorna, Yvonne, and Gloria. She was predeceased by her parents, Christian and Hanna Seitz, and parents-in-law Herbert and Dorothy Heidinger; one son, Arlen Heidinger; one sister, Doreen (Rueben); two brothers, Laverne and Harvey; brothers-in-law, Harvey, Laverne (Shirley). Ruth grew up on a farm in the Little Plume area where she also attended school. For her last three years of high school, she attended Hillcrest Christian High School and Medicine Hat High School. Ruth met the love of her life Rodger at a young age, and their love remained strong for 60 years of marriage. After marriage, Ruth and Rodger moved to a farm in Manyberries. Ruth worked hard along side her husband to run the farm with few conveniences to begin with. She would help drive the grain trucks at harvest and run the school bus. The Lord blessed Ruth and Rodger with three sons, so Ruth was very busy with farm work and feeding her family. She always had a good garden and did a lot of canning. Ruth enjoyed hosting family and friends, where they enjoyed her German dishes. At a young age Ruth learned to sew, and in retirement she loved quilting with different groups of ladies. All of her family have quilts that she made for them. She knitted and gave baby sweaters to all the new babies. Ruth, Rodger, and family attended the Orion Church. Ruth had real concern for the spiritual welfare of family and friends. In 2015, Ruth and Rodger retired to Medicine Hat where she had more time for her hobbies. Ruth had a great love for her family and friends, and showed it throughout her life. She will be sadly missed by all. The funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Evangelical Missionary Church on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Matt Howard and Pastor George Mills officiating. A private family interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery prior to the service.
