Another Western Hockey League season has arrived and there are a number of dates that stand out for the Medicine Hat Tigers in their 68-game schedule.

The Tigers’ 54th season gets underway Friday at Calgary’s Saddledome when they battle the Calgary Hitmen. The Tigers’ home opener at Co-op Place is Saturday against the same Hitmen.

Medicine Hat loads up the bus for their longest road trip up the season in mid-October, making their first appearance in B.C. rinks since the 2019-20 season. The Tigers open their B.C. road trip Oct. 14 at Kelowna against the Rockets, with stops at Victoria (Royals, Oct. 17), Vancouver (Giants, Oct. 18), Kamloops (Blazers, Oct. 20) and finally Prince George (Cougars, Oct. 22).

Overage defenceman Dru Krebs is the only active Tigers player to play a WHL regular season game on the road against the B.C. division.

Six days later the Tigers welcome the WHL’s defending champion, as the Seattle Thunderbirds are at Co-op Place, marking the first U.S. team to play there since the ’19-20 season. The WHL’s newest club, the Wenatchee Wild, make their Co-op Place debut Nov. 11.

The Tigers’ annual Teddy Bear Toss is slated for Dec. 2 against the Prince Albert Raiders.

Western Hockey League action will pause for Medicine Hat as they observe their Christmas break from Dec. 17-26. The trade deadline is Jan. 9, 2024.

The Tigers wrap up their regular season on Mar. 23 when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes for fan appreciation night.
