TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays activated infielder Matt Chapman from the injured list for Thursday’s game against the visiting Texas Rangers.
Chapman went on the injured list Aug. 28 with a right middle finger sprain.
The third baseman’s batting average was .248 with 15 home runs prior to his injury.
Heading into Thursday’s game, Toronto (80-66) trailed the Seattle Mariners by a game for the American League’s third and final wild-card spot.
In other moves Thursday, the Blue Jays sent outfielder Nathan Lukes to triple-A Buffalo.
