sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat Tigers have put pen to paper with another member of their most recent draft class. The Tigers announced Monday the signing of 2023 WHL draft pick Koray Bozkaya to a WHL scholarship and development agreement. The Maple Ridge, B.C. defenceman was selected in the third round, 53rd overall by Medicine Hat. He suited up at the U15 level last season, scoring 10 goals and 20 points in 24 games for the Yale Academy Lions. In a release Monday, Tigers director of player personnel Bobby Fox says Bozkaya will be a strong addition to the blue line when he finishes his development at the U18 level this coming season. “Koray is a big, athletic mobile defenceman,” he says. “He likes to join the rush and he can make skilled plays in all three zones.” Bozkaya said he is looking forward to his first chance to compete in the Western Hockey League. “I’m very excited to get started with the Tigers,” he says. “Medicine Hat is a great organization and I’m proud to be part of it. I’m looking forward to contributing, growing as a player and winning championships with the Tigers.” He joins the Tigers’ first three draft picks – Liam Ruck, Markus Ruck and Riley Steen – as signed prospects from the 2023 WHL Draft. All four are expected to be part of the Tigers’ training camp later this month. 10
