ASIRT could offer more details on local death investigation today

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is close to releasing information regarding its investigation in Medicine Hat. ASIRT told the News Tuesday it had no more information at the time but hoped to issue a news release today on a death that took place in the city on Sunday. The provincial response team issued a social media post Tuesday saying it had, “been directed to investigate a death after an interaction with @medicinehatpolice officers on August 6. Details to follow.” The News erroneously used the word ‘altercation’ in place of the word ‘interaction’ in Tuesday’s paper. The Medicine Hat Police Service reposted the message Tuesday and said Wednesday it could not speak to the investigation at this time. 6-5
