https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews All of northern Montana was placed under a “Red Flag Warning” due to increased risk of wildfire on Wednesday by the U.S. National Weather Service. “Critical fire weather conditions” were likely in the afternoon in all areas of the state north of the Missouri River, including Hill and Liberty counties, directly south of Cypress County, and all area along the international border. “Any fire that starts will spread quickly and may be difficult to contain,” read a statement. Temperatures in the 30C range, humidity at less than 10 per cent and winds gusting to 50 km/h were expected. In Alberta, a fire ban has been in place in Cypress County since late June. This week, Alberta Parks expanded a fire ban to include Bullshead and Michelle Reservoirs in southeast Alberta, but has not yet banned fires in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. In southwest Saskatchewan, the RM of Reno, south the Cypress Hills, was added on July 25 to list of communities with fire bans along the Alberta boundary between the South Saskatchewan River and the Montana border. 9
