Contractors completing curb work on Dunmore Road should be finished this morning, just in time to make way for commuters clamouring to the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Grounds.

The gates at the annual fair open Wednesday at noon, and the four-day event runs through Saturday.

That comes after long portions of Dunmore Road were limited to one lane this week as crews from Mudrack Construction replaced curbs and sidewalk ramps along the main route.

Construction speed zones should also be removed early Wednesday, said city roads officials, as work winds up near the 28th Street intersection, leading to the grounds.

Work at 21st Street, however, will continue until October as crews complete underground water and sewer upgrades.

The city recommends using Ravine Drive or 28th Street as unimpeded routes through Crestwood to the grounds.
