She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Delbert Hadler; daughter, Lori (Doug) Streifel; grandchildren, Chad Hadler and Michelle (Chad) Hurlbert; great grandchildren, Jaxon Hadler, Rio Hadler, Jada Hurlbert (Damon Jahraus) and Camryn Hurlbert; daughter-in-law, Diane Hadler; brothers, Clarence (Eleanor) Knodel, Lawrence (June) Knodel, Jim (Val) Knodel and Albert (Gladys) Knodel; sister-in-law, Mary Knodel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian was predeceased by her son, Darrell Hadler in 2014; parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Knodel; brothers, Fred (Gladys) Knodel, Ben (Wynn) Knodel and Bill Knodel; sister, Rose (Art) Lehr.
Marian was born and raised on the family farm near Irvine, Alberta. After moving to Medicine Hat, Marian met her future husband while working at his family’s grocery business. She and Del were married in 1956 and were blessed with a son, Darrell, in 1957 and a daughter, Lori, in 1959. Marian loved being a homemaker and soon was an accomplished cook and baker as well as a gracious hostess. Fresh baked cookies were an after school must for her kids and many of their neighbourhood friends. Marian was involved in various Hillcrest Church activities over the many years. She had a strong Christian faith and prayed daily for her family. She enjoyed bowling, silk flower arranging and tending to her flower beds. Her two grandchildren were an absolute joy to her and she would go to great lengths to entertain them and make all their favourite treats each time they visited. In time, she was also blessed with four great-grandchildren to love. In later years she became a caregiver to Del, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease which eventually necessitated a move to Masterpiece Southland Meadows in 2021. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadowlands for the kindness and care Marian has received over the past year while in Supportive Living.
A private Celebration of Life will be held. Donations in Marian’s memory may be made to the

Ruby Andjelic passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the age of 94 years. She was married to Todor “Ted” Andjelic for 63 years before his passing in 2019. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory their children, Brian (Colleen) Andjelic, David Andjelic, Sandra (Darrell) Maser all of Medicine Hat and Michael (Dianne) Andjelic of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Michael) Reid (Mila & Sonya); Joshua (Ursula) Maser (Layla, George & Teddy); Matthew Maser; Brandon (Alicia) Maser (Hannah & Kiana); Jessie Andjelic (Phil Vandermey) (Miles & Nico); Kimberley Andjelic (Curtis Zink) (Millie); Evan Andjelic (Suong Nguyen) (Aubrey); Sebastian Andjelic and Bryanne Andjelic; one sister, Grace Lewandoski of Medicine Hat and one brother-in-law, Simo “Sam” Andjelic of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her parents, Reinhold and Eva Gill. Ruby was also predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law Francis Gill, Leonard and Gertrude Straub, George Lewandoski, Gladys and Jovan Andjelic, and Harriet Gill. Ruby was also predeceased by Ted’s parents, Djuro and Soka Andjelic, two brothers-in-law, Jovan “John” Andjelic and Mihajl “Mike” Andjelic, and three sisters-in-law Ika Cenic, Mika Petrovich and Draginja Radic. Ruby is also predeceased and survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby was born and raised in the Irvine – Elkwater area. As a youngster, Ruby had many responsibilities to carry out on the family farm. Although Mom was the kindest person we knew, she also was tougher than many could imagine from growing up during the great depression and after. There are many stories of the six sisters helping to run the family farm, including Billy the horse, driving the horse teams working in the fields, running the harrows, managing the animals, and so many more. We were everyone’s best friend on Saturday mornings when the smell of the freshly baked cinnamon buns wafted through the front screen door, enough for all who showed up. Mom was an avid gardener and there are many stories of garden raids, sore tummies from too many peas and bum bums (strawberries), and so much more. Ruby was a long time Medicine Hat Tigers fan, a member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, and the Medicine Hat Nurses Alumni. Mom enjoyed a lifetime of hobbies until she could no longer manage them including fishing, sewing, knitting, and puzzles. Each child, grandchild, and great grandchild received quilts, receiving blankets, pillows, aprons, and mittens made from Mom’s loving hands.
Ruby had two main purposes in her life. One of them was to provide the very best care for her patients in her role as a registered nurse. Mom was respected by patients and staff alike for her hands-on nursing skills and humble leadership qualities as head nurse. Mom and Dad regularly took time and energy to provide loving care for so many family members. Her other main purpose was to create the best life for her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Every child and grandchild felt they were grandma’s favourite.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Bradvoldt and staff, as well as the staff at Revera Meadowlands and the Carmel Hospice for the very high level of compassionate care provided to Mom.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE (540 South Railway Street S.E.) on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. with Hier Monk Spyridon Gusakov officiating. The family invites those who are interested to wear something purple, mom’s favourite colour. The service will be live streamed. Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit pattisonfuneralhome.com and select live streaming, then select the youtube (arrow). Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to either St. Joseph’s Home (the Carmel Hospice) 156 3 St. NE, Medicine Hat, T1A 5M1, or the Canadian Mental Health (
