The Medicine Hat Mavericks couldn’t crack the scoreboard Tuesday night. The Mavs lost 1-0 at Regina against the Red Sox, marking the first time they have been shutout this WCBL season, marking their fourth loss in a row. Medicine Hat entered the contest off a 7-3 loss Monday at Athletic Park against the Okotoks Dawgs. The only run scored of the contest came in the first inning as Regina capitalized on a bases loaded opportunity that was created from a one-out single, two consecutive errors followed up with a bases loaded walk. The Mavs recorded two straight outs to limit the Red Sox to their lone run. Adam Golby started the game for Medicine Hat and registered a quality start after navigating the first inning jam. Golby recorded four strikeouts in his six innings pitched, allowing the game’s lone run on five hits and one walk. Dylan Weaver game into the game in relief and worked two innings while only allowing one hit and striking out three batters. Regina starter Daniel Crabtree pitched a complete game shutout for the Red Sox, striking out seven batters while allowing seven hits. Medicine Hat shortstop Tyler Vanneste led the Mavs offence with two hits. The Mavs (15-18) are back in action Wednesday at Regina with a rematch against the Red Sox as they look to snap their four-game slump. 8
