John Gruden named head coach of American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies

TORONTO – John Gruden is the new head coach of the Toronto Marlies.

He succeeds Greg Moore in the position.

Moore and assistants A.J. MacLean and John Snowden were let go in May after the Marlies were swept in the first round of the American Hockey League playoffs.

Gruden becomes the eighth head coach in the club’s history.

The 53-year-old native of Virginia, Minn., served as an assistant coach with the Boston Bruins this past season.

Gruden previously worked as an assistant coach with the New York Islanders and as a head coach with the Ontario Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs and Flint Firebirds.
