The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association celebrated Father’s Day with a points weekend of racing.
There were two races Friday night, with Alfredo Etreni from Thunder Bay winning the Street Friday race, with Buz Buzunis of Airdrie coming in second place. Medicine Hat’s Roger Holmes took third.
Dennis Cotten from Medicne Hat won the Friday night bike race, finishing ahead of fellow Hatter Matt Dykstra.
In Saturday’s races, Saxyn Schaufle from Desert Blume won the Jr. thunder race ahead of Ella Jennings from Medicine Hat. The Jr. lightning race was won by Jeff Orr from Hanna, finishing ahead of Allyson Keim from Claresholm. The final junior race on Saturday, the Jr. street race, was won by Ryder Harrison from Raymond with Paige Munsch from Cypress County finishing second.
The MHDRA debuted its ‘Heads Up’ class on Saturday, with two races falling in the class. Perry Bell from Medicine Hat won the heads up fast class, finishing ahead of runner-up Ken Tolsdorf of Black Falds. Randy Koop of Swift Current won the heads up slow class, with Herb Nagel from Cypress County finishing second.
Christina Dewar of Lethbridge won the sportsman race, with Sherri Larson from Brooks finishing second. Brent Buckenham from Carseland won the pro race, finishing ahed of Doug Zeller from Medicine Hat.
Isaac Stettner from Regina won the super pro race, finishing ahead of Joel Bowen from Calgary. The pro bike race was won by Hatter Zach Toth, who finished ahead of Jay Dudley from Calgary.
The next race for the speedway is the NHRA national open, running July 14-16.
