David grew up surrounded by many friends who he was still in contact with until the time of his passing. He enjoyed hunting with his father and brother and being surrounded by the family pets Poncho, Riley and Nicky (cat). David played football at Salisbury Composite High School. He was a expert at skiing and later pursued his passion by becoming an active member of the Elkwater Ski Patrol for three years. In later years, they tried to vacation yearly to the mountains to ski. Later, he would sit as Committee Head of the Gun Club, a representative on the Advisory Board, as well as chairing the Curriculum Guide Committee. In 1979, Dave was hired by the Barrhead Police Department where he also volunteered as a local fire fighter and with the ambulance service. He became a part of the K-9 Unit with his PS dog “Ruger” and joined the TACT Team firstly as a front entry and then as a sniper.
