ROSE MOYER

1921 ~ ROSE MOYER ~ 2023 Our precious mother, Rose Moyer (neé Yaceyko), passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the age of 102 years. She was predeceased by Jack, her loving husband of 59 years. She will always be remembered with tenderness by her children, Glen (Georgine), Nadine (Wayne) Dola, Sonya, Yvonne, Lauren (John) Hider and Terence. Dear to her heart are her grandchildren, Royce, Gareth, Douglas, Jared, Melanie, Ryan, Brent, Tassia and Kristy. Mom is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, her brother, Metro; and many nieces and nephews. Mom’s parents, William and Polpheria Yaceyko immigrated from the Ukraine to Canada in 1905. They homesteaded in the area around Stry, Alberta where Mom was born, the 11th of 13 children. She met dad in Edmonton where he was stationed during the war. They married in 1942 and later settled in Medicine Hat. The church was a thread that ran through our family. Mom was a devout Catholic belonging to the CWL and volunteering at St Patrick’s Church and St. Joseph’s Home, but her true joy in life was singing with the St. Patrick Church choir where she made lifetime friends. Mom dedicated her life to her family and shared in all our pursuits. She learned to officiate at swim meets, learned sign language, sewed all our clothes and knitted all our mittens. Square dancing was her joy, trekking the Grand Canyon with dad, was a shared retirement goal. They shared a passion for traveling and photography that took them on so many adventures. We loved her for her patience with us, for her soft-spoken gentleness and her sheer goodness. She was a kind and graceful woman. We are beyond grateful to the Health Care Aides, the nurses and doctors at The Wellington and at St. Joseph’s Hospice. We will always remember their kindness to mom and to us. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat on Tuesday, May 23 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. There will be a private family service at ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH, 238 2nd Ave NE Medicine Hat, Alberta
T1A 6A1 on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 am with Father Roque Pereria officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
