The Port of Wildhorse will shift to extended summer operating hours on Monday.

The border crossing located 140 kilometres south of Medicine Hat will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days each week for general travellers starting May 15 through Sept. 30.

Commercial loads are processed 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays only.

Power budget

The SaskPower capital budget will top $1.15 billion in the current year, the Crown power provider in Saskatchewan stated Friday, about $100 million more than in 2022-23.

That includes $517 million in general upgrades to the existing transmission network and facilities, including the Croteau Creek Hydro Dam on the South Saskatchewan River, and $505 million to expand capacity and service, including the Great Plains natural gas power plant near Moose Jaw, smart meters and other projects.

Minister Responsible for SaskPower Don Morgan called the budget “a demonstration of SaskPower’s commitment to the people of Saskatchewan, by making significant investments to transition to low-carbon energy sources, upgrading aging infrastructure and modernizing systems.”
