CARSON CLEAVER- BUECKERT June 29, 2004 ~ May 8, 2023 Carson Cleaver-Bueckert of Burdett, beloved son of Christa (Franz) Bueckert and Dave (fiancée Julie) Cleaver and brother to Shelby, passed away unexpectedly while home on the farm on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the age of 18 years. JIM BROST January 30, 1936 May 8, 2023 It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Brost announce his sudden passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, on May 8, 2023, at the age of 87 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his three children, David Brost (Jacquie Pill), Karyn Wist (David Dederer) and Randy Brost (Shelly). Jim also leaves eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby (late, Marvin), Florence (late, Merle), Shirley (late, Donald); and one brother, Lance (Olive). Jim was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ida; sister, Irene (late, Boyd), brothers, Allan (late, Mabel), George (Corrine) and Gary; daughter in-law, Debra Brost; and grandson Eddy Brost.
Jim was born January 30, 1936, on the family farm in the Norton area of southern Alberta. He left the farm when he was 26 to get married and start a family. Jim worked many years at the local Dairy until 1976 when he purchased his milk hauling business. Everyone around Medicine Hat knew him as “The Milkman”. He operated that business until 2002 and then purchased a farm in 2003 near Wisdom. The farm was sold in 2006 and Jim was finally retired.
Jim enjoyed going out to the Wisdom farm puttering around and helping with chores. For many years, he enjoyed meeting up with his fellow ol’ Timers for morning coffee at McDonald’s in Walmart to solve the world problems. He enjoyed cooking, canning, and growing his own vegetables in his garden. He was proud to be able to provide fresh vegetables to his family.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at Higdon Hall, the Wild Rose Room (2055 21st Ave SE) on Tuesday May 16, 2023, at 2:00pm. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.

JO-ANNE BABCOOK 1958 ~ 2022 Jo-Anne Babcook (nee McLellan) of St. Albert, passed away on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 at the age of 64 years. Robert (Bob) George Pearce at the age of 99, joined his beloved wife of 70 years, Joyce Pearce, in Heaven on May 8, 2023. Bob will lovingly be remembered by his children, Mike (Pauline) Pearce, Ken (Sheila) Pearce and Linda (Murray) Dallas. Bob was a wonderful grandfather to Kevin (Lindsey) Pearce, Pamela (Monty) Stokke, Quinten (Alesa) Pearce, Stacey (Andrew) McFetridge, Greg (Jo-Ashlie) Dallas, Arlette (Joe) Jacob; his 14 great grandchildren will also carry on his legacy. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Nicholls) Pearce; grandson, Mark Pearce; his parents, Roland and Nellie Pearce; infant sister, Margaret and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Kate Nicolls; his brother, Bill (Edith) Pearce; two brothers-in-law and spouses; one sister-in-law and spouse; as well as nieces and nephews in England who also predeceased him. Bob was born in Maple Creek SK on December 5, 1923. At the age of 10 his family moved to England for 3 years before returning to live northwest of Maple Creek on the farm. Bob served overseas from January, 1943-July, 1946 in the Royal Canadian Regiment and has been a Maple Creek Legion member for 77 years. While in the army, he met the love of his life, Joyce Nicholls, in Bristol. They were married on July 21, 1947 at the Maple Creek United Church. They carried on the farming life there until his semi-retirement in the early 1980’s. He then worked part time for the RM of Maple Creek and helped various neighbours with their farming. In the fall of 1997, they moved to their Medicine Hat home. Later, they moved to Chinook Village and Masterpiece Southland Meadows. Bob had resided at the Good Samaritan Southridge Village at the time of his passing. Bob and Joyce enjoyed many trips to visit relatives in England and several trips to US destinations with Linda & Murray and Ken & Sheila. Bob was a talented mechanic and carpenter. His grandchildren loved to receive many handcrafted toys for their birthdays and Christmas. He enjoyed playing board games with all his grandchildren, especially checkers and crokinole. Bob loved music and dancing and attended many community dances and functions with Joyce. They also volunteered at Bingos at the senior residence in Maple Creek. Bob was a remarkable man who always kept fit by riding his bicycle 10 miles a day until moving to Chinook Village, and continuing to do 75-100 daily pushups until the age of 96. He was an amazing friend to many and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Thank you to the Good Samaritan Village care givers for making his last years enjoyable. Bob’s wishes were to have no formal service. He wished all to remember the good times you had with him. There will be a private family gathering at a later date. BRIAN WEBSTER 1958 – 2023 Brian Peter Webster, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the age of 64 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Brenda, two children, Kristy Webster (Lee Kilpatrick) and Marshal Webster; his sister Fran Hansen and her daughter Shelley (Julie) Driver; his mother-in-law Elsa Roth, his brother-in-law Clarence Dale Roth; sisters-in-law, Heidi Webster and her children, Michelle (Mike) Zacher (Evan and Daniel); Aiko Webster, and his aunt Nancy Simmons as well as his life long companions Ranger and Leia. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, just a month shy of his 87th birthday, Michael Edward ‘Ed’ Sawicki passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with family by his side.
Ed was a loving, hardworking man who cherished his family, friends and took great pride in his yard. Ed’s history in the Royal Canadian Air Force took him world wide working as an Aero Engine Technician and retiring from his service as a Master Corporal from Cold Lake, Alberta. Upon retirement from the service, he moved the family to Kimberley, BC., where he began working for Cominco Ltd., in the concentrator. After a short stint there, they then lived in Faro, YK., Mayorthorpe. AB. and again in Kimberley before finally settling down in Medicine Hat where he worked as a Commissionaire until he retired. Ed enjoyed his retirement and could be found tending to his gardens, visiting with neighbours, watching the Blue Jays or sleeping in his chair. Ed was a strong, loving man who will be dearly missed by all!
Ed leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Gertie; sons, Michael (Cynthia), David (Alissia) and Chris (Erin); grandchildren, Ashley (Sheldon), Amber (Mika), Sara (Travis), Nathan (Keisha), Zachary (Madi), Erin and Banks as well as his great-grandchildren. Also left to remember Ed are his brothers, John (Maxine) and Ted; sister, Dianne (Ron) along with several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Mary; sons, Kevin and Gary and sisters, Helen and Lil.
The family would like to thank home support, the medical staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and Dr. Motsi for their care and support of Ed and his family. A private family service will be held at a later date.
