KELOWNA, B.C. – Thomas Milic and the Seattle Thunderbirds are off to the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

Milic stopped 19 shots to lead Seattle past the Kelowna Rockets 3-0 on Wednesday night. With the win, the Thunderbirds swept the best-of-seven Western Conference opening series 4-0.

In other action, it was: Winnipeg Ice 3, Medicine Hat Tigers 2; Red Deer Rebels 6, Calgary Hitmen 1; Moose Jaw Warriors 5, Lethbridge Hurricanes 2; Saskatoon Blades 4, Regina Pats 3 (OT); and Prince George Cougars 6, Tri-City Americans 2

Lucas Ciona, Dylan Guenther and Jordan Gustafson had the goals for Seattle. Rockets goaltender Talyn Boyko made 35 saves.

At Medicine Hat, Alta., Ty Nash’s third-period goal proved to be the winner for Winnipeg, which swept the Eastern Conference opening series 4-0. Matthew Savoie and Owen Pederson also scored while Daniel Hauser stopped 30 shots. Dru Krebs and Hunter St. Martin had the goals for the Tigers.

At Regina, Jake Chiasson scored in overtime as Saskatoon tied the series 2-2. Egor Sidorov, Jayden Wiens and Charlie Wright had goals in regulation time. Connor Bedard, with two, and Tanner Howe countered for the Pats.

At Kennewick, Wash., Koehn Ziemmer and Jaxsen Wiebe both scored twice to help Prince George tie the series 2-2. Chase Wheatcroft and Riley Heidt had the other goals. Tyson Greenway and Jalen Luypen replied for Tri-City.
