MHBC’s Jacob Walne lost in what coach Kerry Fahlman describes as a controversial split decision to Hamdan Ahsan from Marshall Edmonton in the Open Jr. B 50 Kg. Walne finished his weekend with silver. Asher Softic won a unanimous fight over Haiden Vanhorne from Shadow Box Red Deer in the 75 Kg. Novice. Fahlman says it was one of the best bouts of the weekend going toe-to-toe for three rounds for a crowd pleaser. Softic won best Jr. B and is the new provincial champion. Nate Vossler defeated David Cowan from Cougar Edmonton in the Jr. C 57 Kg. Open division by a split decision, becoming the provincial champion. He will represent Alberta at nationals in Montreal in June. Xavier Vere lost to Arusheel Sharma from Olympus Calgary in the 70 Kg. Jr. C Novice by unanimous decision. The match was Vere’s first fight. Next action for the club is in Regina at the Battle of the Prairies on April 14. 8
