Registration open for Hidden Oasis 100 Ultramarathon in June

By Medicine Hat News on March 21, 2023.

The Hidden Oasis 100 Ultramarathon, an interprovincial 100-mile race spanning the Cypress Hills of Alberta and Saskatchewan, is returning for a second year June 10.

Hosted by the Cypress Hill Adventure Running Society, the ultramarathon is open to solo runners ready to tackle the 100-mile course, or six-member relay teams of which each member would cover a 24-31 km section of course.

New to the ultramarathon is a 50 km race, which will run concurrent with the 100-mile race.

Described as ‘mentally and physically challenging,’ both courses run through a variety of terrains, inhabited by vegetation and wildlife. Racers are also warned weather conditions could effect the terrain.

Nevertheless, organizers say the ultramarathon is a unique opportunity for athletes from across Canada to test their skills in the beautiful landscape of the Cypress Hills.

Both races begin and end at the Elkwater Learning Centre.

Spaces are limited and registration is required.
